Old North Knoxville Neighborhood Association members scoop ice cream for the residents at Guy B. Love Towers at a celebration May 16 to celebrate Older Americans Month. .
About 125 residents of Guy B. Love Towers enjoyed ice cream, live music and door prizes when members of the Old North Knoxville Neighborhood Association hosted the third annual Ice Cream Social in celebration of Older Americans Month on Monday, May 16.
Resident Rita Schwartz says that the social is just another example of the great things happening at Love Towers.
“Love Towers is a wonderful place to live,” said Schwartz. “As this social demonstrates, we are not an island; we are part of the Old North Knoxville community.”

Schwartz went on to say that the first social came about as a result of a Love Towers resident walking his dog in the neighborhood. “He developed a friendship with one of the Old North Knoxville residents, and they wanted to do something for us. Three years later, the social is still going strong and our relationship with our neighbors is stronger than ever.”
The Love Towers Special Events Committee supported the neighborhood association, and Rose Mortuary and Broadway Carpets were corporate sponsors for the event.
Love Towers is a Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) property consisting of two seven-story apartment buildings located one block off of Broadway. One building is designated for seniors only, and the other is available for disabled, elderly and near-elderly individuals.
